About Us – Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, Iowa

Welcome to Grace United Methodist Church—your spiritual home in the heart of Brooklyn, Iowa. Located at 603 Clay Street, Grace UMC is a warm, welcoming congregation committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We are a part of the United Methodist Church denomination, rooted in the South Eastern District and serving as one of three congregations in the GV–Sigourney/Williamsburg Circuit, along with our sister churches in Victor and Ladora. We are currently blessed to be led by Pastor Guylain M. Yumba, whose spirit-filled leadership inspires faith, compassion, and outreach.

Our worship service begins every Sunday at 8:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. during the program year. (September through May) We also invite you to stay for Fellowship Time, where you can connect with fellow worshipers over coffee and conversation.

At Grace UMC, we strive to be a place where everyone is welcome, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. Our church family includes individuals and families of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life.

We believe that worship and service go hand in hand. Our community outreach includes food and clothing donations, prayer card ministries, and active support for organizations like UMCOR.

Grace UMC is proud to offer a fully accessible space, including a ramp into the sanctuary and a chair lift to the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome—and everyone can fully participate.

Our history runs deep. Originally founded as a Methodist Episcopal congregation, Grace UMC has served Brooklyn for well over a century. A commemorative plate from around 1900 features our original brick building—reminding us of our legacy and the generations who faithfully built the foundation we now stand on.
